I just can't get Battlestar off the brain. If I'm not writing about it or reading about, I'm thinking about it. Specifically, I have three different fic ideas I'm contemplating, a vid idea, and a thing I set aside in December that I keep meaning to get back to and haven't. And I just don't know where to start!

Of course, instead of working on any of that today, I had an urge to watch the mini series. I still recall the first time I watched it I was rather 'meh' about it. I liked it enough to give the series a try, but it wasn't until 'Bastille Day' that I got sucked into the show. In the years since, the mini has grown on me. I enjoy it more each time I view it. But, today, watching it for the first time since seeing 'No Exit', it felt as if it was brand new to me. So many scenes have different meanings now. So many characters are gone - in one scene it hit me that three of the four characters were dead. Yet, I found myself smiling at so many moments. All the Lee and Laura scenes, of course, but even Lee and Kara. ;)

Cut for some new observations - spoilers through 'No Exit'. )

And I'm done. As I suspected, with the episodes much fresher in my mind I didn't have quiet as much to say about them.  Still, I noticed a few things I hadn't before none of which involve deducing who the final Cylon is.  If there was a clue, I missed it, again.   Oh, and in case anyone hasn't seen them yet, I recapped the deleted scenes.  This is the first time where I felt the deleted footage didn't add much to the plot or character development, accept for maybe Boomer and Athena.

I'm thinking/hoping my thoughts on Season 4 will be much shorter.  Though, I have deleted scenes I haven't watched yet.   I will be done by Thursday!  Can you believe it?  Only six more days!

And only twenty episodes more to go.  In eight days.  Eep!  Guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

By this weekend I should be upon 'Unfinished Business'.  To watch the aired version or extended cut - that is the question.

I notice my notes are getting shorter as I progress in the rewatch.  I don't know if it's because the episodes are more recent or I find them less profound.

Hello All. I hope you all had nice holidays. Mine was uneventful, which I suppose is a good thing. No exciting gifts from my mom to report. Though she did give me a sizable check which is always nice. And I got some lovely and surprising gifts from friends. [info]sdwolfpup and [info]brynnmck sent me a coffee mug with my drawing of Jamie on it. Hee! It's next to the Lee Adama mug someone had made for me a couple years ago. If I feel motivated later on, I'll take a picture and post it.

I got a ton of cards and I know the thing to do is to list all the swell folks who sent them to me, but, um, I'm lazy and that's a lot of html code! Let me just say they are all very much appreciated. Though I'm trying to figure out if I owe the U.S. Postal Service $.20 for [info]sweet_ali's booby trapped card. ;)

The Detroit Lions finally proved what I've been saying for decades. They are the worst team in football EVER. 0-16! Woo! What kills me is they tried to win the game. Look, if you are going to suck this bad, embrace the suck.

I got over the 'Black Market' hump, it was very difficult, and have made it through Season 2 of BSG. I think I'll start on Season 3 then work on my next post. I have to say, for people who have been critical of the show's missteps, and I readily admit there have been missteps both minor and major, the series holds up remarkably well on rewatch. I'm much more sympathetic to certain characters given later developments and certain couplings are making more sense to me. Though 'Black Market' I can never forgive them for. I missed seeing Jamie at Dragon Con for that!

Amazon.com posted a bunch of the BSG webisodes yesterday. Surprisingly, they remain up. Webisode 9 is still missing, but all the rest are there. I haven't been a fan of this batch of webisodes. They seemed pointless to me and full of plot holes, which is more of a problem when you are dealing with such a short running time. But in the final minute of the final webisode I saw what they were leading up to. For anyone skipping the webisodes, I do suggest watching them before the season starts because they throw light on an upcoming plot point. Yes, I'm slightly spoiled.

I watched the Doctor Who Christmas Special, which I forgot about until I saw it mentioned on my Flist. I don't find I have anything to say. It was OK, though I felt it dragged more than previous Christmas specials.

Amazingly, I got a lot done around the apartment this weekend, including reorganizing my CDs and DVDs...then remembering I had a bunch of DVDs in the other room. :/ I also took advantage of sales online and bought some shoes and clothes. I'm trying to get a jump on one of my perennial New Year's resolutions to stay on top of things and not procrastinate. Maybe this coming year I shall succeed.

Before I venture to watch the difficult part of Season 2, 'Pegasus' is next up, I figured I'd better post the rest of my thoughts sitting on my hard drive. As before, I do refer to events through the end of Season 4.0 so if you aren't there yet, don't read!

I'm probably the only one who cares that The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice premieres tonight. Don't judge me! :p  What some of you may be interested in is Leverage premieres after it at 10:00pm est. Christian Kane and his bad hair co-star.

I've mentioned my Battlestar Galactica rewatch. I just finished watching 'Home Part 2' earlier today. My plan was to post as I watched, but I ended up having marathon viewings and twelve pages of notes. I realize no one's attention span is that long when it comes to posts, so I'm just posting through 'Colonial Day' (plus I did some editing). Since I have at least one person on my Flist who recently began watching the show, I'll warn that their are spoilers for what has aired to date.

Because the economy sucks and waiting for November 4th is making me anxious, I've decided to do a post of only positive things. Well, and thoughts about Life. ;)

Work Related Stuff

I did my first art related project in a long time. Someone at my firm has a nine year old dressing as Slash for a party. When I first heard this I thought, "How can one dress as slash?". Then I realized she meant the guitarist. Anyway, he wanted a barbed wire tatooish design drawn on a tee shirt. She was referred to me when the person she usually goes to for her graphics needs couldn't do it based on religious grounds. He's a Jehovah's Witness. Shockingly, markers I hadn't used since college still worked and though I never studied graphic design, my concept didn't turn out too bad. I wouldn't accept payment, but I got a tin of caramel corn and a thank you from a very happy kid.

My boss paid me the rare compliment this week. After reviewing a huge ass stack of credit card statements I had just paid and thanking me for letting him do so he added, "By the way, you're good." To which I replied, "Yeah, I know." :)

Vacation

I have a vacation coming up! I'm flying to San Francisco on November 5th and [info]danceswithwords and I will be embarking on a road trip. She'll be driving down the coast (I can't drive a stick shift and I'm sure she's grown attached to her transmission) and we'll be spending three fun filled days in Burbank with Ben Browder, Claudia Black, and, oh, friends), followed by a day in San Simeon to see Hearst Castle, then back to San Francisco so I can fly home on November 12th. I think this may be the longest I've vacationed with anyone. Be on alert for stories of unidentified bodies along the PCH.

Battlestar Galactica

I've been threatening to do it for a long time, but I finally began my Battlestar Galactica rewatch. I told myself I wasn't going to take any notes (that lasted fifteen minutes) or talk about it here (again, didn't last), but it's apparently become a compulsion that I talk about this show. Random thoughts and observations about the mini series )

[info]brokenmnemonic attended Michael Hogan's panel at the Fan Expo in England this weekend. There were a couple of interesting comments Michael made about the just wrapped BSG movie, The Plan. I'm recapping the points that jumped out at me in B's post. General information about 'The Plan'.  )

Mo Ryan has more information on Mary McDonnell's November 13th debut on 'Grey's Anatomy'. Damn, I'll have to start watching that show.

Mo also broke the news on Katee's appearance on 'Law & Order'. But this is the part of the article that really got me excited:

The “Battlestar” cast diaspora continues: Of the many actors from the show to line up new gigs, among the most notable are Mary McDonnell (“Battlestar’s” Laura Roslin), who starts her “Grey’s Anatomy” gig Nov. 13 and Jamie Bamber (Lee Adama), who will don a badge of his own as a cop on the upcoming British series “Law & Order: UK.”

Jamie's new gig is notable! Woo!

Mark Verheiden confirms 'Galactica' is coming to Blu Ray:

Next week I'll be doing an on-camera interview for the BSG Season 4 Blu-Ray release... no idea when the discs are due out (hopefully around the release date of the regular DVDs, which right now are scheduled for early Jan. 2009) but I suppose that means BSG is definitely coming to Blu-Ray. Thank goodness I invested in an HD-disc player just before that format went belly up...

The price of the machines has dropped and there will probably be deals around the holidays and after. Is it time to buy?

Birthdays

I've missed a lot of birthdays recently. Forgive me? =) Happy Belated and Soon-To-Be Birthdays to [info]brokenmnemonic, [info]avrelia, [info]thomasina75 (FYI, we have a bed for you next year. ;), [info]missmurchison, [info]superplin, [info]ketzel and [info]electricexprmnt. I hope I didn't miss anyone.

And, Finally!

I watched Enchanted on TV last weekend. While the film, overall, didn't blow me away, I found Amy Adams, well, enchanting, and one musical number I could not get out of my head. I may have watched the scene numerous times thanks to my DVR. As luck would have it I found the clip on You Tube and thought it might make some of you as happy as it makes me:

'That's How You Know' performed by Amy Adams:

And 'That's How You Know' performed by Kristen Chenoweth at the Oscars:
