While I still don’t find it acceptable that the deleted scenes from the Sci-Fi site were not included on the DVDs, it dawned on me last night that those scenes, with the possible exception of the Lee/Shevon clips, were not scenes that fleshed out the characters or aided in the plot. Nearly every deleted scene on the DVDs seems important in some way. While I am pleased some of these scenes were cut (and I’ll give my two cents as to why) I can see why they were written and filmed even if the writers ultimately decided not to go there, the scenes were deemed redundant, or they just didn’t have the time.

Cut for descriptions, discussion (mostly on Lee-centric scenes), and length. This is *really* long folks. )

I was going to go to bed an hour ago, but opted to check out the deleted scenes on the 2.5 set instead. I will have much, much more to say about what I viewed later. Some really great stuff that would have made a huge difference had it been included in the episodes and it bothers me more than it probably should to think about what could have been. There is also some stuff I'm glad was cut. But I'm also pissed off about something else. I assumed like the 2.0 set they would include the deleted scenes up at the site plus a few additional scenes. No. All the deleted scenes are new and they included none of the scenes at the Pulse site. >:( Granted, some of them were pretty unimportant, but I loved the scenes that were cut from 'Black Market'. So my question to you technically inclined people out there, is there a way to download and save the clips from the Pulse site? I doubt they'll be there forever and I'd like to have copies (even so-so ones) for the future.

The problem with having a late afternoon flight tomorrow? You tell yourself you have plenty of time to pack and thus sit at your computer and write your opinions of the newly released BSG 2.5 deleted scenes. Once again, located at Sci-Fi's Pulse site.

And I know you all know that I’m Lee biased, but, honestly I think his cuts from ‘Black Market’ were some of the unkindest cuts of all. A rundown of what we missed the good, the bad, and the pointless. )

I’d also recommend checking out the clip of the acceptance of the Peabody Award. And do not miss the South Park guys shout out to the show in a separate clip. Sure, they said “Battlestar Galactica” about ten times, but the best bit was hearing Jon Stewart say at the end, "’South Park’ just mentioned ‘Battlestar Galactica’. Somewhere somebody’s blog just blew up." :)

Thanks to a post by [info]sarmoti I was made aware that Sci-Fi has posted deleted scenes for 'Black Market', 'Scar', 'Sacrifice', and 'The Captain's Hand' at their Pulse site. It took me awhile to figure how to get to them. Go to Sci-Fi home page click on 'Launch Sci-Fi Pulse for more video' then click on the link for Battlestar Galactica, deleted scenes, 2.5.

I only had time to check out a few scenes (and I was still late for work), but I'd highly recommend the ones for 'Black Market'. Jamie's enthusiasm for this ep makes much more sense. Some very important and fascinating stuff was cut.

Of course, I'll have more to say later. ;-)

Yes, I’m a liar. But it’s not my fault! I mentioned in my previous post that I had discovered some deleted Lee and Laura footage on the DVDs and people want details NOW. So, as to not drive my fellow shippers crazy by making them wait a couple days, I shall do a recap of what I found so interesting. ;)

Cut for those who haven’t seen the first half of season 2 yet. )

The plan for the day was to write up my thoughts on the next two eps in my BSG rewatch. But this morning I came to discover that Sci-Fi had posted a massive amount of deleted scenes from Season 2 while I slept. So, guess what I did at lunch? After downloading Quicktime to my work computer which I’m not suppose to do. Tonight I’ve spent far too much time doing a write up when a) you can watch and judge for yourself and b) they’ll be on the DVD’s next month and we’ll all be talking about them then. I think I need to add a c) to this – Asta needs to get a life. :p

Read if you dare - Spoilers only through 'Flight of the Phoenix'. )
