Before I get into the episode(s) themselves, a side note to [info]beccatoria - being spoiled is the right thing for me.

I went to the Sci-Fi site to download the podcast only to see it isn't up yet. Sigh. But they've posted a music video comparing Classic BSG to the New BSG and it's pretty amusing. It brings up everything we love of the new and mock of the old. They even take a shot at Dirk. ;-) Here's the link probably only good for folks in North America. :/

And for those who haven't heard Heroes is the first new series to be picked up for an entire season. Woo Hoo!

Thanks to [info]greycoupon, I am aware that Sci-Fi has the first act of the season premiere up for viewing.

I'm not doing any analysis at this point because it's hard to put these scenes in context without the rest of the episode. I definitely liked what I saw. Everything seemed very true to the characters.

I also watched Mary McDonnell's interview on the Today show. OMG is she gorgeous! And she was wearing an outfit I'd kill for. The only outfit she had since the airline lost her suitcase. Now, I'm willing to try and upload this if someone hasn't already done so, but I have one problem. I copied the video from my DVR to a disc and while I can play the disc fine on my laptop I can't seem to copy the video from the DVD to upload. Any suggestions?

And now I must point you all in the direction of the master list for Why Can't We Be Friends Ficathon. Thus far I have only read [info]romanticalgirl's fics she wrote for me. And, yes, fics, the woman write four based on my prompts - two Lee and Helo and two Archie and William. It's an embarrassment of riches! Shortly after reading those I had to scoot for an appointment with the eye doctor which meant having my eyes dilated and not being able to read anything. My vision is returning to normal so I can start checking out the other fics. Many great pairings. Go read!

I also think I figured out my LJ notification problem. Somehow lj_notify ended up on my blocked senders list. Sigh. Sorry if anyone felt I was ignoring them.

I just finished watching this past weeks webisodes and after being rather Meh about them, along comes Episode 8. Cut for those who haven't seen it yet. )

I was skimming the Sci-Fi forum and I noticed Mrs Ron posted that Mary will be appearing on the Today show tomorrow at 8:30. Set your DVRs/VCRs or for our friends overseas look to You Tube. ;)

Did I miss the big announcement that Battlestar Galactica is moving to 9:00 est? Now I knew the season premiere next Friday was at 9:00 because they are airing two episodes. But I just saw something for a future episode and it listed the airtime as 9:00 sooooo I went to take a peak at the Sci-Fi Friday schedule for September and this is what I found:

7:00PM HEROES
8:00 PM DOCTOR WHO
9:00 PM BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (SEASON 3)
10:00 PM THRESHOLD

I'm not upset by this move, I think it could be a good thing, but shouldn't this have been advertised more? I can't have been the only one who thought the 9pm airtime next week (Eeeee!!!) was a one time thing.

This is a spoiler free zone, but I have to say, after weeks of very little information, I've seen so much today my head is about to explode. :)

In the latest edition of spot the BSG actor, I got back-to-back sitings watching Dead Like Me last night. Nicki Clyne as one scary babysitter and Claudette Mink (Shevon - 'Black Market') as a, I'm not sure what to call her, groupie? I'm also contemplating buying this show on DVD. Must look for sales.

I fell asleep during Bones, but I DVR'd it! Before dozing, I did catch some very nice glimpses of a half dressed David. I hope someone is making icons. ;) And I think Justice may have lost me. Putting aside the really, *really* bad writing in the first five minutes, I happen to work for a corporate law firm and the way they depicted corporate attorneys was insulting. Sure, there are some, um, well, people I don't care for personally in my firm, but they know how to behave in deposition or a courtroom.

Ok, I am, in fact, working on a Con Report. I wrote about four pages on Thursday night (just on BSG - D'Oh!) when I had a burst of energy and un-fogged brain. So the plan is when I get back from having lunch with [info]divahag to edit that and post and then put the rest of the panel discussions in a seperate post. I don't seem to recall much of the Stargate discussions though other than an interesting comment about fanfic, some early afternoon drinking, and that Don Davis is not insurable so don't expect to see him in any future 'Stargate' projects. He's in perfect health (he appartently lifted Rachel Luttrel up in the air at one point during the weekend), but actuarial tables are working against him. :(

Speaking of the Gates....

SG1: Memento Mori )

SGA: McKay and Mrs Miller )

There was a new BSG promo during SGA last night. It's my favorite so far. Cut for the ultra spoiler phobic ) My favorite Czech BSG site has it up if you want to take a look - Season 3, Teaser #4.

I was going to do a series of separate, smaller posts, but lethargy has resulted in the mega-post. Let’s begin with the TV round up:

Psych - I still don’t know how I feel about this show. On the one hand, I like the two leads, particularly Dule Hill as Gus. I love how Gus is so eager to rush to the crime scene as soon as Shawn provides him with a juicy detail, but as soon as they get there and they find either a gruesome discovery or confrontation he’s looking for the nearest bathroom to throw up or passing out. :)

The problem is that the cases have been snoozefests and the supporting players bordering on clichés. If the nemesis police detective had a moustache, he may be twirling it. And while I largely like James Roday as Shawn (he’s cute, he’s funny), his exaggerated mannerisms to go along with his ‘visions’ have already begun grating.

Nightmares & Dreamscapes: Or when good actors get lousy material. I watched two episodes, was unimpressed, and about to give up when [info]raislak highly recommended the Ron Livingston episode. I found it On Demand and decided to give the series one last chance. I ended up fast-forwarding through half of it. I can only assume Stephen King came up with this idea after seeing Serenity.

Life on Mars - My Flist, you did not mislead me on this. I liked it a lot, though no deep thoughts at this point.

Dead Like Me - I’ll reiterate, very Wondersfallish (same guy behind them both so no surprise), but the characters are very different so any similarities aren’t really bugging me. Thus far, Roxy is my favorite character. She’s sarcastic, somewhat cynical, and a little bit bitter. Maybe I like her because she reminds me a lot of…me. ;) Mason is cute and has the accent going for him, but my TV boyfriends have to be smart and sexy and how he died killed the smart part. ;p

Amazing Screw on Head: I’m not a huge animated series fan but I heard David Hyde Pierce and Paul Giammati were voicing two of the characters so I had to check this one out. OMG, it’s so good! Snappy, intelligent dialogue, cool animation, and did I mention the leads? Definitely check this one out – Sci-Fi, Thursday, 10:30est.

So my most recent ‘How Much Did You Spend On This’ purchase (TM my mother) is the audio recording of the BBC adaptation of Brideshead Revisited. When I fangirl, about the only thing that will stop me from buying are the dreaded words “Region 2”. Luckily, CDs are universal so after I discovered that one of Jamie’s radio performances was actually available for listening (the BBC sucks at archiving) I handed over my money to the folks at amazon.com.uk.

Cut for squeeing and discussion - spoilers if you are not familiar with the book. )

Though I haven’t commented much I wanted all you WriterCon attendees to know I’ve been reading all your posts and enjoying your recaps. And pictures! It’s nice to put faces with names of people I have not yet met.

Battlestar Galactica 2007 calendar! From the cover it looks as if the images are taken from the mini and season 1, but calendar! :-)

Galacticanews provided a link to a transcript provided by [info]tunfaire at [info]captainapollo of Jamie's interview in the lastest official BSG magazine. There be SPOILERS. However, if you skip the second question and answer -"How do you think that year affected Lee as a character?" - and the third question and answer - "How do you think his relationship with his father has been affected?" - there is nothing spoilery and Jamie provides some very interesting insights into his character and the show. My favorite revelation may be he is wearing Grace/Sharon's pregnancy tummy to bulk him up! :)

ETA: The Stargates! I almost forgot. That should tell you something. ;) )

My mom called me to tell me she had tried two stores and no luck finding the BSG cover of TV Guide with, as she puts it, Jamie and "the little blonde girl" behind him. I told her I had tried five stores with no luck and explained that, sometimes, in TV Guide's infinite wisdom they only ship certain covers to certain areas. This is where she gets upset and tells me that she's going to call TV Guide and, as a subscriber, demand they send her an issue with the BSG cover because they can't just pick and choose where they send covers. And if that didin't work she was going to order a set so I could have the one cover. I talked her out of making any calls explaining that it's an old photo and not much of an article and it's not the end of the world if I don't get a copy. But can you tell I'm a spoiled only child? ;-)

Low: Learned I need to prioritize the hard way (damn you LJ!) and got to the post office next door five minutes after it closed.
High: Drove to the one downtown and there was no line.

Low: Realized after I mailed one of the packages I forgot to include something. D'Oh!
High: At least postage is cheap for mailing a single disc.

Low: Went to five different stores and, apparently, my lovely city is only carrying the TV Guide's with 'Lost' and 'Star Trek' on the cover.
High: However, I have the August issue of Out magazine. Wheeeeeeee!!! And there is an additional picture in it! More Wheeeeeeee!!!

Low: Spent money I shouldn't have.
High: Will no longer have to borrow Mom's suitcase because mine is too big and bulky to take on the plane.

Low: Apparently the braintrust at Sci-Fi aired a new Season 3 trailer during the 2am showing of BSG. WTF? Because it would have made no sense to air it during the NEW 'Stargates'. :p
High: Maureen Ryan of The Chicago Tribune did a nice write up on the upcoming season on BSG. There are spoilers (nothing new to me ;), but if you don't care about those evil things go here. And for the spoilerphobes who, like me, have been dying for some webisode info it's under the cut. )

OK, this is a BSG spoiler free zone...however ;), there is a bit of casting news from Comic Con and I know even some of the spoilerphobes on my Flist don't mind hearing about guest stars. So beneath the cut is just the name of the actor and no mention of the role he/she is playing or how he/she affects the plot. Sooooo.... ) That is all.

I cannot believe I sat through 90 minutes of Eureka for a minute of footage. Wait. Yes, I can.

Cut for summary of preview. Spoilers for Season 3 obviously. )

Dead Like Me didn’t wow me, but I enjoyed it enough to keep watching. Eureka, I think I’m done with it. Forty-five minutes into the show I was *still* waiting for them to start telling the story. A half hour later I was getting the story, but didn’t find it original or even an interesting variation on an old story. Some of the acting is good, some, not so much. Bottom line, I just don’t care.

In slightly related news, I *have* to get a DVD recorder. My VCR recording of the promo sucks.

Can I tell you how much I love my job? If you are in doubt, yes, that is a sarcastic question.

Let's focus on the positive. Battlestar Galactica Trailer during the premiere of Eureka tonight, 9-11 est. New footage! Woo Hoo! I hope there are at least a couple shots of a newly trimmed down Lee. Otherwise, repeat after me, "It's just padding."

Also, Dead Like Me makes it's Sci-Fi debut at 7 est. I haven't seen it before, but given some of the recs on my Flist I figured I'd check it out.

[info]anglophileangel, now aware of my fondness for Ioan, sent me This Link of an interview with he, David Duchovny, and Jake Kasden regarding their new film, The TV Set. David and Jake do most of the talking and Ioan looks to be in desperate need of a haircut. Jamie can grow his hair out sweetie, you cannot.

I should be on my way to work, but then I recalled that the BSGers were at The Museum of Television and Radio event last night and I *had* to look for reports. I even went to the TWOP site! So far, not much info accept they showed a Season 3 preview clip that, duh, contains spoilage. Now, on Monday, the MTR site will have a webcast of the event posted. Personally, I hope they include the preview clip, but maybe they won't. For you spoiler phobes, if you want to wait a day to hear if it's safe to watch, I shall let you know.

[info]blondeheroine posted this link to the trailer for Hugh Jackman's next film, Scoop. I want to see this film *now*. Not only is there a lot of shirtless goodness, but Woody Allen appears to be funny and not chasing after women a third of his age.

I know I've stated on a couple of occassions that I would not discuss spoilage here simply because most of my FList don't so spoilage and it's just easier for them and me if I post my thoughts elsewhere. However, I'm going to bend my rule a bit. I saw [info]ysrith posted over at [info]thesecretcylon a link to an interview with Ron Moore in Now Playing regarding the shows plans for the third season. It's not super spoilery, meaning, we don't find out Lee Adama is a Cylon. ;) But he does discuss where they will be headed next season including Spoilery only if you haven't seen the season finale yet. ) So, if you feel your stomach will be in knots until October, You may wish to check out the article. Now I shall get back to contemplating what we did see. Of course, it's a beautiful day and I should be out rather than thinking about all this. :p

However, it bares repeating. Maybe if we can all work ourselves up into a significant outrage, Sci-Fi will change their minds.

Season 3 of 'Battlestar Galactica' to not debut until October.

Just try avoiding spoilers now people! :(
