Hello All. I hope you all had nice holidays. Mine was uneventful, which I suppose is a good thing. No exciting gifts from my mom to report. Though she did give me a sizable check which is always nice. And I got some lovely and surprising gifts from friends. sdwolfpup and brynnmck sent me a coffee mug with my drawing of Jamie on it. Hee! It's next to the Lee Adama mug someone had made for me a couple years ago. If I feel motivated later on, I'll take a picture and post it. I got a ton of cards and I know the thing to do is to list all the swell folks who sent them to me, but, um, I'm lazy and that's a lot of html code! Let me just say they are all very much appreciated. Though I'm trying to figure out if I owe the U.S. Postal Service $.20 for sweet_ali's booby trapped card. ;) The Detroit Lions finally proved what I've been saying for decades. They are the worst team in football EVER. 0-16! Woo! What kills me is they tried to win the game. Look, if you are going to suck this bad, embrace the suck. I got over the 'Black Market' hump, it was very difficult, and have made it through Season 2 of BSG. I think I'll start on Season 3 then work on my next post. I have to say, for people who have been critical of the show's missteps, and I readily admit there have been missteps both minor and major, the series holds up remarkably well on rewatch. I'm much more sympathetic to certain characters given later developments and certain couplings are making more sense to me. Though 'Black Market' I can never forgive them for. I missed seeing Jamie at Dragon Con for that! Amazon.com posted a bunch of the BSG webisodes yesterday. Surprisingly, they remain up. Webisode 9 is still missing, but all the rest are there. I haven't been a fan of this batch of webisodes. They seemed pointless to me and full of plot holes, which is more of a problem when you are dealing with such a short running time. But in the final minute of the final webisode I saw what they were leading up to. For anyone skipping the webisodes, I do suggest watching them before the season starts because they throw light on an upcoming plot point. Yes, I'm slightly spoiled. I watched the Doctor Who Christmas Special, which I forgot about until I saw it mentioned on my Flist. I don't find I have anything to say. It was OK, though I felt it dragged more than previous Christmas specials. Amazingly, I got a lot done around the apartment this weekend, including reorganizing my CDs and DVDs...then remembering I had a bunch of DVDs in the other room. :/ I also took advantage of sales online and bought some shoes and clothes. I'm trying to get a jump on one of my perennial New Year's resolutions to stay on top of things and not procrastinate. Maybe this coming year I shall succeed. People are posting today?! Which says a lot about us, in the good way. We feel compelled to take time out of our day with family to send good wishes to each other. I'm waiting for my stew to finish cooking. I had a debate with myself last night on what to make for dinner today. Pork originally one out since I was too tired to do the prep work for the stew after I made a cheescake, but, this morning, I felt inspired. So, at 10:45 in the morning I have dinner and dessert done. :p I'll be off to mom's in awhile and wondering how I'm going to transport all this. I think I may actually open the stack of cards I have on my dining table before I go. Yes, I only open mail about once a week. And I have one Christmas package waiting to be opened and several others being held in the apartment complex office. Everything around here has either been closed or was nclosing early this week because of the weather which makes it impossible to collect packages. A lot of people have been doing daily posts on things that make them happy. While I couldn't commit to daily posts - yes, I am that lazy - I did feel compelled to share that the best presents can come without packages, boxes or bags. Yesterday, in my email, I discover a Law & Order: UK promo photo featuring Jamie. It was a surprise for many reasons, but, mostly, because the sender was on vacation. If anyone want sto check out DS Matt Devlin, you can see him here. And speaking of Jamie, Fancast has a very nice interview with him. I wanted to point out this particular interview because his comments about the finale are some of the most hopeful, relatively speaking, this is BSG, I've read. I also liked his answer as to what he would put on Lee's imaginary tombstone, "Dad, it’s not you – it’s me.” Or something like that." Hee! Everyone have a happy, safe, and warm day. Oh, brynnmck I'm thinking of you right now. I'm watching Costas Now and he's talking about the Rays. ;) Tags: christmas Current Mood: hungry

To those who celebrate it and to the rest...um, Hi! :) Well, as I am prone to do on holidays and birthdays I seem to have picked up a bug. Though, I think I've managed to stop it from being a knock-me-on-my-ass-for-a-week illness. I've just been sleeping a lot, which did, unfortunately, curtail my DVD watching. Though I did finally finish Season 2 of Due South. It was odd the season ended with a clip show, but I'm guessing they didn't know they were being canceled. And 'All the Queen's Horses' provided, for me, one of the most bizarre moments of the series when Paul Gross and his fellow mounties suddenly broke out into song. I also put on what is becoming one of my favorite Christmas films, Love Actually. Next up will be the Grinch, the animated version, not the Jim Carrey monstrosity. On top of getting even more lovely holiday cards the past two days, I received a $20 gift card from Best Buy, as they promised. I can't recall if I mentioned here previously that my copy of Razor did not include the bonus disc promised on the packaging. So after a failed exchange (apparently none of the copies shipped here had the bonus disc) I emailed Best Buy about it and they said they send me a gift card. As much as I complain about retailers, and they deserve it, I feel I should give Best Buy credit for, essentially, giving me Razor for free. And while I was laying on the couch snoozing yesterday I though of the ending for a fic I have not yet begun. thomasina75 that should make you happy. ;) Finally, I need to wish swsa a slightly belated, thegoyle a shockingly on time, and _jems_ a bit early Happy Birthday! I hope all you lovely ladies had/have great days. (And that you didn't get cheated on presents! ;) Tags: christmas Current Mood: cheerful

Just got back from Mom's. I spent over eight hours with her with no urges to kill. Woo Hoo! Maybe it had something to do with her being so upbeat and into the holiday which was...odd. As far as loot, the woman manages to find just about every piece of M&M merchendise on the market. My fave piece, which is also the one she questioned buying, is an M&M candy shop that has lights and motion. Three M&M's spin around in the candy shop being coated with choclate. We spent much time staring at this. We both obviously need lives. When less sleepy and properly displayed I may take pictures. I also received some strange odds and ends. She got me an embroidered luggage strap so I can easily spot my luggage at the airport. Nice, but do I want an airport full of strangers knowing my full name? And there was also a Pirates of the Caribbean calendar in lieu of Star Wars calendar this year because she couldn't find one. I also got assorted ornaments, some cool ornament hooks, and a check! :) The movie for the evening was Eight Below which my mother discovered on cable awhile back and loves. I'm a long time Bruce Greenwood fan and he is neither an ass nor dies in the film so, cool! And the dogs were pretty damn adorable. I even got a bit weepy at the end. The one glitch in the evening was the roast my mother made. She overcooked it a bit. She was using a new stove and cooked it as she would have in the antique she had before. But the cut of meat was not the best. It wasn't bad meat, just that they trimmed too much of the fat and bone hence leaving it dry. So she was beating herself up for getting ripped off by the store and then for not judging the cooking time properly. I've had far worse, but try convincing her of that. I hope everyone else had a good day. Scanning my friends list it seems things went pretty well for everyone. It just seems totally unfair that most of us have to return to work tomorrow. Blech. I’ll be going into work shortly. I know, on Christmas Eve. I was going to go in yesterday, but I found out Friday that at least one person in my department plus my boss were coming in to work and while neither would intend to interrupt me, sometimes that just can’t help bugging me with questions. And since I have no plans today I might as well go in when I’m assured some peace and quiet. Plus I can take in my laptop and watch DVDs. Maybe I’ll watch the rest of the Star Wars trilogy that danceswithwords was kind enough to get me. I started ‘A New Hope’ last night. The original version before George decided to make ‘improvements’. I still adore that film and giving it will be thirty years old next year it holds up amazingly well. As much as I was feeling all nostalgic, it also occurred to me how corrupted I’ve become by The Internets and YOU all. I’m contemplating doing a post listing all the lines that now seem to have a double meaning. And I found myself wondering how much Luke/Han slash was out there. Sigh. ( In other entertainment news….. )( And in RL….. )Yesterday was cleaning day. I can see my kitchen countertop and living room floor again! And I have clean clothes! And I finally opened up my mail that has been piling up for over a week! So here is the great holiday card round-up. Many thanks to… mirandaflynn, nolivingman, romanticalgirl, widget285 (Cookie Lee! :), shmarollynn, thomasina75, joools, drc1, jonesiexxx, jidabug, cathyteach2 (the girls are adorable!), keswindhover, gobi_rex, reckleslinguist, and wickedgillie (The kids! Too cute!). OK, I probably missed someone. Please let me. I've enjoyed each and every one of the cards and some very kind words. I've also noticed a cat theme this year. ;) And a Very Happy Birthday! to the one and only thegoyle. May your birthday not be overshadowed by another significant one. ;) Now off to work. When I return I shall need to work on the final day of Christmas. Only one more pic spam to go. :( Tags: christmas, star wars, stargate, tv_musings, work Current Mood: groggy

This may be one of my odder creative choices. ;) Some of you may know this about me already, but Brad Pitt normally doesn't do much for me. That's not to say I think he's unattractive or untalented. And, heck, I admire him for the fact that he is one of the few celebrities who really is trying to do something with his fame and fortune and make the world a better place. He's just no Jamie or Hugh for me. ;) However, I don't know if it's the hair, the clothes, the lighting, the characterization, his humor, or the way he never stops eating throughout the film, but when I watch him as Rusty in Ocean's Eleven he DOES do something for me. ;-) So, on the Eleventh Day of Christmas I choose to present Ocean's Eleven. Of course, another thing I love about that film is Rusty's relationship with Danny (for the record, not in any slashy way :p) and since George Clooney isn't exactly hard on the eyes either..... And as an added bonus you can check out the trailer for 'Ocean's 13' here. *Love* the expression on George's face at the end. Tags: christmas Current Mood: calm

They've changed the Update Journal Page. I don't know how I feel about this. Now you change your userpic and journal you are posting to at the top and everything else at the bottom of the page. I guess it makes sense since you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to post and then can determine your mood, music, etc. Of course, they've managed to mess up the HTML view. I can't post a pic from my gallery soooo I'm giving Rich Text a try. I managed to get cards and packages mailed out today. Wheeee! One hurdle jumped. And everything should arrive before Christmas. Now I just have a fic I have to complete. I saw the new BSG promo that ran during Pt 2 of The Lost Room. Far more interesting than the mini series. Plus there is a new David Eick video blog featuring Jamie, Michael Trucco, and Michael Rymer. It's highly spoilery, but I would recommend checking it out after the ep airs because it's one of the most interesting blog entries I've seen. It gives you a really good inside view as to how the director and actors work out a scene. And today is the birthday of the wise, witty, funny, talented and all around swell fer1213. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FER !!!
I had this idea to do a twleve days of Christmas type thing and looks like I have to start today if I want to do it! sdwolfpup is doing Twelve Days of Fangirl Christmas and I had a very similar idea. Maybe I shall call mine the Twelve Days of Pretty. And since it's fer1213's birthday I'm starting with an interest of hers. :)
Sorry the picture is so tiny. I had trouble finding a decent quality image.
Bones is good, but I can't say this Duchovny directed ep is any better than any other recently. Though I have to wonder if Bones remark about the truth was DD's addition. ;)
Now off to prepare to bake *again*. I know too many people with birthdays this week.
