This morning, I saw an email from DeepDiscount.com informing me they are having a mega sale on DVDs, CDs, and books. So, before I placed my order for the Farscape DVDs with Amazon, I thought I'd take a look at their price - FRELLING $74.38! Yep, they are selling it at 50% off retail. If you want to buy a copy I suggest placing an order before the price goes back up.

Now, Best Buy is selling a limited edition with Peacekeeper Wars included, but I can't rationalize paying a lot more for one disc I already have.

The last time I updated was June 7th. This may be a record for me. I'm trying to put my finger on why I'm not posting. Is my life that boring? Well, yes, it is, but that's nothing new. There's no new Battlestar to discuss, which has always been a prominent feature of my LJ. But, I still have Caprica to watch and a podcast to listen to and some half formed meta. I do feel Twitter is partially to blame. I never thought Twitter and I would be a fit. I'm so wordy! And only 140 characters? It's inconceivable! Apparently, I'm more adaptable than I thought.

I did start a post on Monday, but the topic of said post has had me on a YouTube and downloading binge since the weekend, sucking up most of my free time, and thus I haven't gotten around to finishing my thoughts. And this renewed passion of mine deals with something I haven't thought much about in twenty years and probably all of two people will care what I have to say on the subject. If anyone can guess what I'm talking about from that incredibly vague description there's a virtual cookie in it for you. (Accept for [info]beccatoria, who is already privy to my insanity. ;)

In order to dip my tow back in the meta waters, I have a few thoughts about Virtuality. [info]frolicndetour has a great discussion going on on her LJ about my main problem with the pilot. Cut for spoilers. )

For my fellow Farscape fans, in case you haven't heard, the rumored Farscape panel at Comic Con is a go! Ben, Claudia, Brian Henson, and Rockne will be there. I was curious as to why there might be a panel since there is currently no series and the webisodes are still in development. Well, soon after the panel announcement came news of the entire series being released on DVD! Thank you A&E Home Entertainment!

Speaking of cons, Dragon Con is only 64 days away! It seems like it was just October and I was making my room reservation...which I reconfirmed yesterday. I'm already seeing posts about get togethers. I'd love to meet up with whoever I can, though logistics can be a nightmare when dealing with four host hotels and 40,000 people. I'll be arriving Thursday and leaving Monday and you should be able to find me standing in lines for Star Trek, Stargate, and BSG panels.

And for those interested in how the most recent Star Trek film changed from script to screen, check out Star Trek - What You Missed Most of the cuts I agree with, but I really would have liked to see more of Nero's backstory. His missing scenes would have helped to explain a lot.

[info]danceswithwords entitled her report Con Report of Absurd Length, but I topped her! Hence the subject line.

Pictures will have to come later. Currently my camera with the memory card is buried under a pile of stuff on my dining room table. But I wanted to type up my notes while I still recall what my notes mean.

[info]danceswithwords and I only attended Saturday and Sunday which means we missed David Franklin and Gig Edgley’s Q&A’s on Friday and we skipped Virginia’s Q&A on Sunday to, I believe, go to dinner instead.

Saturday: Raelee Hill, Anthony Simcoe, Ken McCord and the radiant, if poodle haired, Claudia Black. )

Sunday with the Browders and Ricky Manning. )

I promise a post of substance not completely involving BSG will be forthcoming. In the meantime, ponder a series of 'Farscape' comics.

The news about Farscape coming back to SciFi via webisodes and BSG also doing another webisode series is popping up all over my Flist, so most of you have probably already read the news. But just in case you aren’t in the loop, Gateworld has a recap of what’s up. The description of the BSG webisodes might be considered slightly spoilery. The blurb is the equivalent of a TV Guide write up only probably more accurate. ;)

Since the BSG webisodes should total around fifteen minutes of additional footage and there was already talk of the DVD cut of Razor being about fifteen minutes longer I have to wonder if the webisodes are, in essence, deleted scenes.

Zap2it recaps SciFi’s upcoming projects announced at the Television Critic’s Association press tour. Interestingly, SciFi announced Razor as revolving "around Adama's son Lee Adama (Jamie Bamber) and his first mission as commander of the Battlestar Pegasus." Huh. This is different then every other description I've read. I think some marketing license is being taken. My guess is the network is trying to push it as a movie featuring a character we know well as opposed to one we only saw in a couple of eps.

And apparently Ben Browder has signed a contract for life with the network. He’s starring in the miniseries Going Homer about a 21st Century Homer.

OK, as loathe as I am to link SyFy Portal, it's what a series of links took me to and at least the article isn’t by Michael Hinman. I had heard some weeks ago that James Marsters was to guest star in an episode of Torchwood. At a recent convention appearance he confirmed it. Of course, the talk about restructuring and reshooting parts of the ep doesn’t instill a lot of faith in me as to the direction of the show this season.

ETA: Ok, looks like the SciFi press release for their upcoming projects. The wording on this description of 'Razor' makes more sense. And the Ben Browder project could be good or bad. Hard to tell at this point.
