I'm back home. I've actually been back home since very late Monday night, but between work (don't ask) and catching up on sleep and other stuff I haven't been very active online. I've done a lot of skimming and believe I am all caught up on your lives. Chicago was awesome. Just a wee bit windy and chilly on Thursday when writteninstars and I arrived. I managed to get sick during The Decemberists concert that night, but I'll spare you the details. I don't think it was the bands fault. ;) Starting on Friday the weather was beautiful and lasted until we left. Much shopping was done though I managed to restrain myself from buying too much. I kept thinking about Illinois 9% sales tax to Michigan's 6%. And spent several hours at the Art Institute looking at some marvelous works and some others that made me debate what constitutes art. In addition to hanging out with my dear, mostly sweet writteninstars I got to spend some quality time with x_h00ine, her hubby mr_booze, lynnb, and dragonfly0303. Did I mention the chocolate buffet? Yes, there was a chocolate buffet at the Penninsular Hotel and apparently there is a limit as to how much chocolate I can eat. I am waaaaay behind on TV having not yet seen Ugly Betty, Heroes or Doctor Who and thank you friends list for being so good about cut-tags. I did catch House last night and have a few thoughts on that. ( Housetraining )House is making available for purchase 'Everybody Lies' tees made for the cast and crew. Proceeds benefit the National Alliance of Mental Health and can be purchased here.Tags: chicago, house s3 Current Mood: relaxed

Work: In the past week, in narratives for disbursement entries, I had to type Lee County, DiAnna, and, I swear to God, Galactica. Movies: There are a bunch I want to see, but haven’t had the motivation to go to the theatre. The Fountain will change that this coming week though. And last weekend I caught The Iron Giant on TCM. I had never seen this film and now I’m wondering why it took me so long. It’s so shiny and pretty! And cute and funny and emotional without being cloying. I also may have teared up a bit. Casting News: This is old news, but since I only saw one person on my Flist mention it. ( Casting for ‘Heroes’ )Television: Ugly Betty - This was the show I was just going to give a try based on positive pre-season buzz. This is the show I find myself rapidly becoming addicted to. No deep thoughts, no urge to hop online and discuss as soon as it’s aired, it’s just so darn cute and fun and I just adore Betty and Daniel. And Vanessa Williams is turning Wihelmina from what I feared would be a one note villain into a multi-dimensional character with more heart than I could have imagined. Actually, it’s pretty terrific how all the characters are shown to have at least a shred of goodness in them. My one criticism of the show would be Betty’s boyfriend. She deserves so much better than him and considering how we’ve seen her stand up to some pretty powerful people, I have issues with her settling in her personal life. 30 Rock - I want to love this show, but, thus far, I only love Alec Baldwin. He’s the only thing keeping me tuning in and as worthless as the Emmy’s are I still want him to win for his brilliant performance. Maybe Tina Fey spent a little too much time at SNL. Her product placement story was funny for the first couple minutes, but she didn’t seem to know when to quit. And when do you cross the line from satire to actually being the shill for the product? I mean, they went from doing the obvious placement plug for Snapple to going into a commercial for Snapple. ( House – Son of Coma Guy )People Magazine: Wheeee!!! The rather small photo of Jamie on the People magazine website? It’s a two-page spread! The section is entitled ‘Steaming Up The Internet’. And he got a mention on the cover too! Well, I’m assuming that is the Jamie they are referring to. There are some other notable hotties. Hugh Jackman in a GUH! Inducing photo. Eric Mabius who I may have to add to my list of TV Boyfriends. Johnny Depp, Wentworth Miller, Josh Duhamel, and the (male) cast of Heroes were some other great additions. It was only lacking Tim Daly. Maybe they can do a black tee shirt section next year? Day 2 of awful cold. The worst part is I don't have the energy to do anything. So, sorry, no Con report yet. It took me a half hour to leave feedback on fic yesterday. :/ Actually, the worst part may be my cough which apparently has caused me to pull every muscle in my chest. To combat that I've been taking two Advil (for the pain) and a Benadryl (for stuffed up nose) and, last night, it caused me to sleep for ten hours straight. Fortunately, instead of relying on being up at noon to watch a repeat of E! News which Jamie was on I set the VCR. Phew! He was interviewed at the BSG Con and was very cute. I found it amusing that he mentioned how grabby fans can get during photo ops, yet one of the pictures he uses for autographs is him sans shirt in 'Scar'. :/ Did manage to catch some TV last night. Moving backwards, I watched Nip/Tuck which I don't normally watch, but I was coughing and couldn't sleep. I like the show when it doesn't focus so much on the grotesque and outrageous and, instead, focuses on the chacracters. The little revelation about Christian? Not really a shock. I caught the premiere of Standoff and, damn, I was hoping this show was going to be better. I really like Ron Livingston and was excited about the possibility of seeing him every week. But while he, the lead actress, who I am not familiar with, and Gina Torres were good, the writing was a combination of cliche and over the top. Now for the highlight of the evening, ( House )Tags: house s3 Current Mood: sick
