I'm unsure if this is a Gold Box Deal of the day or Amazon's desire to get revenge on DeepDiscount, but if you haven't already purchased the Farscape box set, Amazon has it at $58.

Jamie Bamber appeared at Starfury's Cylon Attack convention this past weekend and revealed to an attendee he auditioned for the role of Jaime Lannister in HBO's Game of Thrones. I posted links here at [info]bamber_news. While I'm a bit disappointed he didn't get the role, I was glad to read he is auditioning for American series. Sorry to my British friends, but I want to see him on my TV every week. ;)

I'm currently finishing up Season 8 of Stargate on Hulu. Wow, they really didn't think they were coming back for a ninth season, did they? They wrapped up a lot of storylines and Jack and Sam were as about as close to getting together as they ever were. (Shut up [info]danceswithwords :p)

And I have some White Collar speculation based on a comment Neal made in last Friday's episode 'All In'. Speculation under the cut. )

Remember how I said the only thing that could get me to tune back in to Dollhouse would be a guest appearance by Jamie Bamber? Guess what? Jamie Bamber will be guest starring in the season premiere of Dollhouse. I just got the confirmation from Jamie's publicist who just got off the phone with Jamie. Damn, you Joss! :p Though I am thrilled that Jamie will be getting some U.S. TV exposure.

It's been a week since my last post. Miss me? ;) I took a few days of LJ down time after BSG finale weekend. The sheer volume of discussion became draining. Though whether you loved or hated it, I find the discussion it's created fascinating. I still have few discussions bookmarked to catch up on. I'll probably do another post myself down the road after rewatching 'Daybreak' and, hopefully, after I'm able to make all the thoughts swimming in my head coherent to me. I have several contradicting feelings right now. I also have podcasts to listen to and a fic to begin.

I feel I need to mention the fic to motivate myself (or have you all motivate me) to start typing up the damn thing. [info]beccatoria has been my sounding board the last couple weeks. This is an idea I've had since 'Crossroads' (yes, that long). I was beating myself up for procrastinating on starting it, but now I believe the long wait has worked to my advantage. I've gone from fretting how I would deal with certain aspects of the story, and not knowing how or where to end it, to conceiving it as a revisionist version of Season 4. But it's also a little scary to go from what I conceived as just a Lee/Laura fic to something a little more gen.

I've also caught up on quite the backlog of TV this week.

Law & Order: UK - Unsafe and Buried )

Castle: Hedge Fund Homeboys )

Dollhouse: The One That Was Supposed to be Awesome )

TSCC: Today is the Day/The Last Voyage of the Jimmy Carter/To the Lighthouse )

Life: 5 Quarts )

I decided to give Kings another shot last Sunday after being lukewarm on the pilot. I did find myself enjoying it more, but it struck me one problem I'm having with the series is the actor who plays David. He's not terrible, but I don't find him particularly interesting and considering he's pivotal to the story that's an issue.

A couple of links:

Several days ago, Ron Moore responded to some questions posed by the fans at the SciFi Forum. I hear the thread has gotten rather long now, but I believe the pertinent stuff is only on the first three or four pages. If you are still rageful about the finale, you may not wish to read his thoughts. Even I found some of his answers frustrating. But apparently my interpretation of Lee's scenes was pretty dead on. ;)

And Jamie appeared on Sky 1's Soccer Am yesterday morning. He didn't talk about the finale and, oddly, the show played a clip from 'The Captain's Hand', but between the 4 and 5 minute mark he does take some shots at Dirk Benedict which I'm sure some of you will enjoy seeing. :) The direct link is HERE.

I promise to stop spamming you all after this. :)

First of all, for those of you who are not as enthralled with Jamie Bamber as I or check out [info]bamber_news, I feel compelled to point you in the direction of this post by the awesome [info]elzed. On Monday night, BAFTA had a screening of the premiere episode of Law & Order: UK followed by a Q&A with some of the cast and creators. [info]elzed attended both and typed up a detailed report. Yes, it is very Jamie-centric, but she also provides a balanced review of the series and what we can expect to see. The highlight of which was finding out Jamie's casting was a selling point to NBC. :)

The first episode 'Care' premieres Monday, February 23rd at 9:00pm on ITV 1. And, yes, I will be providing weekly reviews within a day or two (hopefully) of the episodes airing. ;)

In other (brief) TV news....

I finally saw last week's episode of House. It wasn't bad, though I was distracted by a tumor that apparently can grow in 24 hours and disappear almost as quickly. O...K...

The Mentalist - Just when you think Patrick Jane can't be anymore adorkable he utters the line, "There's no business like Chobusiness." Hee!

Scrubs - Surprisingly, the phone gimmick worked.

Leverage: The Juror #6 Job )

Life - One of the more successful (and humorous) episodes of the season, though I will never hear the words "Uncap the Sharpie" in the same way again.

Jamie did a brief interview with IGN.com. Nothing spoilery and we're getting to the point he's being asked the same questions about the end of the series and giving out the same answers. However, there is this portion of the interview that is very interesting in light of the upcoming prop auction:

Q: What did you steal from the set?

Bamber: Everything, everything. I'm not going to give you details, but I've got everything. Everything that I wanted, I got. Everything I could fit in my yard!

Q: Was there anything you had to have a tug of war with Katee Sackhoff over?

Bamber: No, because the stuff I took was basically mine. They were cool – [The execs] would probably clobber me. I know the vultures were circling to sell it off on eBay for General Electric's profit. But we took it upon ourselves to desecrate it all and take as much as we could, and I think we did a good job with it.

Let me say this, the prop catalog is gorgeous and I'm very happy I bought a copy, but I've had suspicions since the auction was first announced about the authenticity of many of the items. Jamie stated long ago that he had taken his flight suit. And Aaron Douglas had his orange jump suit at Dragon Con. And I found it hard to believe other cast members weren't packing up items as they left. So when I read Jamie's comments I felt it was his way of telling us to save our money. :) I also love the swipe at GE. Tina Fey needs to call him about doing a guest stint on 30 Rock. ;)

In other news that makes me happy - and it's not even More Joy Day yet! - TV Squad has a sneak peak at the February 13th episode of The Sarah Conner Chronicles which is pretty cool. I still can't tell if it's real or her imagination.

And you all need to go check out [info]chalia43's awesome BSG crack vid set to Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start the Fire', HERE.

Benjamin McKenzie may be returning to TV in 'LAPD'. This news pleases me more than I would have expected.

Kandyse McClure and David Anders have been cast in a remake of 'Children of the Corn'. Color me shocked it's premiering on the SciFi channel. On the plus side, it's another case of my fandoms colliding.

MGM and SciFi announce the greenlight for 'Stargate: Universe'. It's being compared to Battlestar Galactica and Enterprise. I hope it will be more like the former, but fear it will more closely resemble the latter. And this description makes it sound similar to Voyager:

"Universe" introduces a team of explorers who find an ancient unmanned ship called the Destiny. Unable to return to Earth, the crew must fend for themselves aboard the ship, which has a preprogramd mission taking them to the far reaches of the universe.

I'm also not thrilled with the 'we're aiming for a younger audience' mentality.

You know, it occurred to me the other day that depending on when SciFi opts to premiere the final episodes of BSG and ITV decides to premiere Law & Order: London I could be watching Jamie Bamber twice a week. Not that that idea has me excited or anything. ;)

Apologies for those of you who also are members of [info]bamber_news because I'm cluttering up your Flist with a duplicate post. Normally, I wouldn't post interviews with Jamie here, but he said some very interesting thing about 'Sine Qua Non' and at least one answer helps clarify Lee's mindset during the episdoe and I've seen much discussion on the subject.

The full interview can be found here at Zap2It, but beyond definite spoilers for 'Sine Qua Non' he does make some general comments about the rest of the season/series that might be considered spoilery for those who want to avoid any information beyond what has aired. I've copied and pasted he's comments relative to 'Sine Qua Non.'

The Q&A's specific to 'Sine Qua Non' and a little non-spoilery discussion of Lee and Kara. )

And I thought this was intriguing:

Have you finished filming the series finale already?

No, we’re just about to start filming the finale. It’s actually a double episode, possibly even a triple episode, but yeah it’s one big story.

So, does this mean we could get an extra episode?

Technically, the weekend hasn't been all joyful, but I'm focusing on the positive because there has been a lot of happy making stuff for me this weekend.

* Yesterday, I helped stimulate the economy. I went to Bed, Bath, & Beyond with all my 20% coupons and bought new bedding, accept for a new comforter, because finding one I love alludes me. The reason I needed new sheets is because the ones I bought back in July of 2006 to go with my new bed shrink every time I wash them. I kid you not. I barely got them over the top of the mattress last week. I'll never buy sheets made of bamboo again. This time I went with preshrunk cotton that can fit mattresses up to 18" deep. OMG THEY FIT! With room to spare! I also finally got a bed skirt. In navy! Wheeeee!!!

* I watched Firefly on Universal HD last night. 'Safe' aired and I just adore seeing Summer Glau dance.

* Also last night, the Music HD channel premiered a new Soundstage concert featuring Matchbox Twenty. Rob Thomas, dressed in black, in HD. Sigh. Plus, they sang all my favorite songs with new arrangements for a few. '3am' and 'Real World' were, in particular, awesome.

* I did my periodic imdb searches on Friday. Checked Jamie's listings and nothing new. [info]sarmoti, bless her, was checking yesterday and found that Jamie has been cast in the film 'Mineville'! It's a drama! With a good cast (Anthony LaPaglia, William Sadler)! Eeeee!!!

* ::hearts:: friends for keeping me informed. :)

* Finally, got the first podcast recap up. Phew! It's hard getting back in the swing of doing those!

* 'Iron Man' took in 104 million in it's first five days domestically and 200 million world wide. I sense a sequel on the horizon. :)

* I was flipping through the latest GQ with Robert Downey Jr on the cover. The writer of the profile on him was talking about how much he had cleaned up his act. To the extent that he drinks algae shakes. If your a BSG fan, you find that as funny as I do.

Since it's after Midnight where I live, [info]sdwolfpup 's More Joy Day Challenge is here! I'm sure others have awesome things prepared, I just found time to plug away at some small things. I did manage to accomplish something on my resolutions list - do one new thing a month. I'm posting icons!

I am not a great icon maker. If you couldn't tell. ;p  A combination of lack of experience and mediocre software contributes to that. But I had ideas and thought, what the hell? Actually, the ideas were inspired by, in order, [info]mata090680 , [info]xwacky , and the lady of the day, [info]sdwolfpup . If you feel like grabbing one, be my guest. What do icon makers say? Oh, yeah, credit is nice and no hotlinking. Though given I have uploaded them to LJ I don't think it's an issue.

For [info]admireddisorder, I'm working on that Lee Adama meta.  You all may be beginning to sense a theme with this day. ;)

I had plans this weekend. Not going out and having a social life plans, but plans to tackle long gestating projects. So much for that! While I did manage to do some organizing and make the backlog on the DVR less intimidating, the WGA and subsequent fallout onto the actors has both scared and fascinated me much of the day. I dealt with the hiatus from hell, even when it got pushed back to another level of hell. I dealt with the show coming to an end after only four seasons. But if the show ends on a mid-season cliffhanger I will not be dealing well. I can only take so much NBC/Universal! And I can't even throw blame at Sci-Fi here!

On to happier things, let's talk TV that is currently airing.

Pushing Daisies )

30 Rock )

Life - No spoilery comments on this. I just wanted to say that this is the one new show this season which I've watched consistently get better. And this week they had me flirting with analyzing!

The 'Razor' Flashback )

Friday Night Lives )

Stargate: Atlantis )

I've been watching repeats of The O.C. on Soapnet and I have to say, as bad as I thought the Oliver storyline was, the Johnny storyline tops it in badness. At least the guy playing Oliver had more than a single facial expression. Johnny was a deadly combination of bad actor/boring character. We were expected to think he was competition for Ryan? Seriously?

Many of you may recall I've mentioned that Ultimate Force, the series Jamie did before Battlestar Galactica, is the worst thing he's ever appeared in. Well, it would seem the American viewing audience agrees with me! BBC America pulled the show from it's schedule after five episodes (the first series was all of six episodes) and the BBC America website has no future airings scheduled. On the brightside, (I say somewhat sarcastically) I did manage to track down Jamie's final two appearances from Series 2 through alternative means. I still haven't braved watching them though. ;) Now I'm just down to lacking Jamie's season of Peal Practice.

Dirty Sexy Money has been picked up for a full season! Assuming the strike ends! :p

For my fellow fans, 'Carnivale' is on sale for over 50% off at Amazon.com. I'm amused that you can buy both seasons separately for a total of $44 or both seasons packaged together for $110.

If you want an easy way to help show your support for the writers there is the Pencils 2 Media Moguls campaign. I sent ten boxes...and a message. ;) Don't worry, I was polite.

Reviewing my post-it, I think that's everything I wanted to touch upon. :)

Comment Editing for Paid and Permanent Account Users! WOO!

Thanks to [info]sdwolfpup for the heads up.

In other exciting news for ME, the BSG love has returned full force. I stayed up past my bedtime last night reading and replying to meta. I laid in bed contemplating my long gestating fic and had, imo, one great scene idea. BSG is again driving me to sleep deprivation and I love it!

Oh, and my Shifting Sands DVD arrived! (Yes, I am totally abusing the explanation points in this post!) For those of you who don't know what the hell Shifting Sands is it's a film Jamie did while at university and he looked so very, very different. That's going by pics I've seen, I haven't watched the film yet, but it's something to look forward to this weekend. :)

I also have a massive amount of TV to catch up on/comment on, plus *a lot* of RL stuff to do because [info]thomasina75 will be here in six days!

I can’t really say this is a confession since some of you already know, so I shall call it a declaration to all of LJ Land. I love Matchbox Twenty. There, I said it. Rob Thomas in particular makes me very, very happy. Not Jamie Bamber happy, but he’s up near the top of the list. The look, the voice, the moves, the intensity – all of that makes quite the nice package, er, you know what I mean. So I became joyful when I discovered that the band has an album coming out October 2nd, Exile on Mainstream. My excitement turned to disappointment though when I learned the album was a greatest hits package, not that I still wouldn’t buy it. Then disappointment once more turned to excitement when I found it was to be a dual CD – twelve past hits plus six new songs. Woo! And I love the first single, ‘How Far We’ve Come’. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched the video…which you can see here!

Their website in case the embedded link isn't working.

And, maybe it’s just me and my need to have my interests collide, but I think this song would make an awesome BSG vid. I’ve already matched up characters and moments with lyrics. Unfortunately, I don’t vid. :(

So, yes, some of you can now go ahead and laugh, shake your head, or role your eyes at me. [info]danceswithwords would probably defriend me accept she needs a drinking buddy someone to watch the SGA premiere with next Friday.

Speaking of SciFi, I caught a promo for Tuesday’s Eureka featuring a sweaty Michael Shanks. ::must remember to DVR later showing::

A very, very, VERY Happy Birthday! to [info]the_royal_anna. Not that there wasn’t a lot to love about her before, but she is now a BSG/Jamie Bamber fan so, yes, I love her even more. :)

In a couple of my DC posts (and more to come!), I mentioned I had done a drawing for Jamie to autograph. A tiny bit of history on this endeavor. I had started another drawing about two weeks before the convention, which, given my glacial pace at projects, was pretty insane. The Sunday before the con, I spent all day on the drawing. On Monday, I decided I hated it. I was rusty and there were some series technical problems with it. I gave up and decided I’d just bring something for him to sign. Then, on Tuesday, I decided to test just how fast I could work. I chose a new photo to work from and opted to downsize the drawing surface. (With the other drawing I was working with two photos, overambitious idiot that I was.) I spent more time then I intended to on the drawing, but once it got to the ‘this doesn’t suck stage’ I had to keep working in it. It still isn’t completely finished. I even told Jamie that. I want to add a bit more detail and punch up the dark areas. I may post an updated version later. One better lit too. But here’s what he signed – with my name taken out. It’s a public post and I’m paranoid about my real name getting out.

Well, it only took two weeks to post my first Dragon Con report! Worst part of typing this all up was I listened to the BSG panel recordings while sick, tried to transcribe key points, and now being of reasonably sound mind and body, I looked at some of my notes and went, “Huh?” But, I think this all (mostly) makes sense. So here is a wrap up of the three BSG panels I attended (I had to miss Monday’s panel), a few photos that don’t suck, and some highlights of my chats with Jamie.

Friday’s Panel: Star Trek vs The New Battelstar Galactica (AKA the panel in which Jamie looked bored to death). )

My first meeting with Jamie or how I’m sure I acted like a dork. )

Chat# 2 with Jamie and still the dork. )

Two Apollos, A Chief, and a Battlestar. )

Final Jamie chat – still feeling like a dork. )

Sometimes fandom feels like a second job, though I wouldn't mind it being mt primary one. It's more engaging than what I do from 8 to 5. I'd make a joke about getting paid for what we do online, but that would bring up some bad memories of an online fiasco (not mine!) from a few years back.

Basically, since Sunday, my life has been pretty consumed by fandom. I'll try to make a long story short. If you are dying for details, check out some recent posts at [info]bamber_news. Back in January, I posted pictures of an unknown photo shoot that Jamie had done and on Sunday I was contacted by the photographer of the photos, Howard Webster. He was rather surprised to find his photos online, especially since some of them weren't meant to be seen and those that were were to be used in the next edition of Factory magazine.

To his credit and my relief he wasn't angry, just annoyed and curious as to how I found the photos. I e-mailed him back to apologize though it was clear he did not believe any harm was meant, to offer to remove the photos, and to explain I was just as clueless as he was as to who the original source was. To my amazement not only did he graciously respond that he appreciated my follow-up, but preceded to convey his experience working with Jamie, attached a PDF of the three page fold out they intend to use in the magazine, and made an offer to, if there was enough interest to warrant it, publish a limited edition of the magazine with Jamie on the cover for the fans. O_o

So since Sunday I've been trying to help organize, with the assistance of [info]melian_eresseie, making this happen. Here's the post explaining where we are at. We need to collect requests for roughly a thousand copies by Saturday. Pretty daunting. The short turn around time is because the magazine goes to print on Tuesday. If anyone feels inclined to spread the word, please do so. The e-mail I'm using to collect requests is bambernews (at) gmail (dot) com. I'm just asking for name, e-mail, and number of copies desired right now.

Earlier this evening I finally managed to talk with [info]writteninstars and since she caught me in the middle of all this she got to listen to me ramble on about it. I mentioned that when I started the Comm I never expected it to be a big deal. Her response? She burst out laughing and said she knew when I started it that I was basically screwed. I love you WIS. ;p

Um, in other news....

The last episode of Stargate SG1 has aired. I'm still waiting to see it. Sigh. And I may get a little teary when I do see it. I never thought I'd say that.

Apparently someone has posted a very detailed recap of the final two episodes of BSG. As much as I love spoilers and I'm happy to know what I know (which does include some plot twists), this is crossing a line and could potentially ruin my enjoyment of the show. So I am being good and staying clear. The promo has me psyched for this week and I don't want that enthusiasm diminished.

I saw 300 this weekend and enjoyed it quite a bit. Stunning visuals and barely dressed men. What more could a gal want? Well, while I had no problem with the nudity, I could have done without the gratuitous sex. And it took me awhile to figure that we were seeing the movie through the perspective of someone listening to the fanciful tale told by the narrator. After that realization, some seemingly bizzare characters suddenly made sense.

Because of the above, I haven't gotten to the podcast. Maybe tomorrow.

And now it's after 2:00am and I should try and get some sleep.

Jamie has been busy over the hiatus. :) This information was posted last night by [info]greycoupon and just now at [info]bamber_news by [info]pandora_576. Jamie will be appearing on the following shows this month:

Sunday, February 18th at 9est - Cold Case: Blood on the Tracks

Friday, February 23rd at 8est - Ghost Whisperer: The Walk-In

Not a GW fan, but, hey, it's got a substantial audiance as does CC so this is great exposure. And I'm thrilled he's getting non-BSG work. I'm glad the move to LA is working out for him.

Typical, it's Bamber Sunday and I'll be out of town. Though, maybe I could ask Jamie about the shows? Hey, [info]danceswithwords, I think I'm going to spring for internet on Sunday. ;-)

 My FList is currently exploding...

JAMIE BAMBER IS GOING TO BE AT DRAGON*CON!

Supposedly. Since he canceled days before his last scheduled appearance there I'll believe it when I see it. But Katee is scheduled and Aaron is talking about coming again and has apparently been singing it's praises so maybe we can hope for a big cast turnout. It will also help that the BSG Con isn't until fall this year.

Now my big dilemma is do I still go to Mega Con next month or hope for the best in September?

Um, yeah, and I know I haven't posted in over a week. See what it takes to get me to break my silence? ;) Honestly, it's been work business, not having much to say (accept for a backlog of 'Stargate' to talk about) and some projects I've been working on.

ETA: LJ and my friends rule!  Neither his semi-official site or the Bamber thread at the Sci-Fi board have posted the news yet.

I refuse to whine (at length) about work, but I must say today SUCKED. I swear, I'm not even hormonal right now and I felt like crying. My friend/co-worker felt bad for me. My boss, who could tell I was not happy, felt really bad for me. And tomorrow, last day of the month, will probably be worse. I went in at 7:30 this morning, not that it did a ton of good, but I may try and do the same tomorrow. I already told The Boss that I was not going to get everything done that needed to be, it's just impossible with NO HELP. Which, yes, he is trying to rectify, but that doesn't do anything for me right now.

I came home to discover the that the orders I placed over the long weekend started to role in. One was my new printer. YAY! In a box three times the size of the printer. BOO! The manager offered me the use of a dolly, but a guy who was there also to pick up a package saw that the box was almost as big as me and offered to take it to my car. I did manage to drag it from my car to my apartment. It looks very shiny and pretty, but I haven't tried using it yet. See, even though it came in a big ass box, Amazon shipped the USB cord I ordered separately. :( In a short while I'm going to try on the clothes I ordered. ::Crosses fingers:: I have four or five more shipments due. My office complex loves me this time a year. Maybe I should bake them cookies or something.

Assuming the chord shows up tomorrow, I'm not sure how much printing I'll get done. News reports predict anywhere from 6 inches to two feet of snow this weekend. I will not be going out shopping for supplies if it's the latter. Plus, I have BSG to obsess over.

I've watched all the preview clips for 'Unfinished Business', discussed them at length, read a rave (spoiler filled so I won't rec it) review today, and have many thoughts. I'm tempted to start a write up before the ep airs which seems nuts, but I can just alter/fill in where needed. Or maybe I should get back to that fic. I've just had no energy to tackle it this past week.

In the OMG! moment of the day. I was perusing various BSG sites including my favorite Czech site and in the latest update dated today there was a picture of Jamie and several links embedded in the (to me) unreadable text. But, hey, you put your curser on top of the link and you can see which sites they are. So, I'm going 'seen it'...'seen it'...'seen it'...[info]bamber_news!!! Ok, being linked on LJ is one thing, we rec people and comms all the time, but a site in the Czech Republic! It is a small world.

I have Fantastic Four on. I blame certain people reading this and ABC for pulling The Nine.

Work: In the past week, in narratives for disbursement entries, I had to type Lee County, DiAnna, and, I swear to God, Galactica.

Movies: There are a bunch I want to see, but haven’t had the motivation to go to the theatre. The Fountain will change that this coming week though. And last weekend I caught The Iron Giant on TCM. I had never seen this film and now I’m wondering why it took me so long. It’s so shiny and pretty! And cute and funny and emotional without being cloying. I also may have teared up a bit.

Casting News: This is old news, but since I only saw one person on my Flist mention it. Casting for ‘Heroes’  )

Television:

Ugly Betty - This was the show I was just going to give a try based on positive pre-season buzz. This is the show I find myself rapidly becoming addicted to. No deep thoughts, no urge to hop online and discuss as soon as it’s aired, it’s just so darn cute and fun and I just adore Betty and Daniel. And Vanessa Williams is turning Wihelmina from what I feared would be a one note villain into a multi-dimensional character with more heart than I could have imagined. Actually, it’s pretty terrific how all the characters are shown to have at least a shred of goodness in them. My one criticism of the show would be Betty’s boyfriend. She deserves so much better than him and considering how we’ve seen her stand up to some pretty powerful people, I have issues with her settling in her personal life.

30 Rock - I want to love this show, but, thus far, I only love Alec Baldwin. He’s the only thing keeping me tuning in and as worthless as the Emmy’s are I still want him to win for his brilliant performance. Maybe Tina Fey spent a little too much time at SNL. Her product placement story was funny for the first couple minutes, but she didn’t seem to know when to quit. And when do you cross the line from satire to actually being the shill for the product? I mean, they went from doing the obvious placement plug for Snapple to going into a commercial for Snapple.
