So, a friend here in town forwards a link to myself and some others this morning regarding Gen Con in Indianapolis, wondering how she did not know about this (she's pretty up on cons, especially if there are Farscape folks involved as is the case here), and that she would have been interested in going this past weekend. I click on the link to see who was supposedly there and the first person I see is...Jamie Bamber?!?! Now, contrary to popular opinion I do not know his every move, but I find it very odd that I watch all the major BSG comms on LJ, have several equally enthusiastic fans on my Flist, skim the Sci-Fi board several times a week, and check out his semi-official site at least once a week. And I saw nothing about this. Plus, scanning this morning for Con reports I still see nothing. My question is, does anyone know if he was really there? With no news I'm thinking either he was scheduled long ago and cancelled or he was a last minute addition. If it's the latter, Dragon*Con Jamie, Dragon*Con. Tags: jamie_bamber Current Mood: confused

I was going to do a series of separate, smaller posts, but lethargy has resulted in the mega-post. Let’s begin with the TV round up: Psych - I still don’t know how I feel about this show. On the one hand, I like the two leads, particularly Dule Hill as Gus. I love how Gus is so eager to rush to the crime scene as soon as Shawn provides him with a juicy detail, but as soon as they get there and they find either a gruesome discovery or confrontation he’s looking for the nearest bathroom to throw up or passing out. :) The problem is that the cases have been snoozefests and the supporting players bordering on clichés. If the nemesis police detective had a moustache, he may be twirling it. And while I largely like James Roday as Shawn (he’s cute, he’s funny), his exaggerated mannerisms to go along with his ‘visions’ have already begun grating. Nightmares & Dreamscapes: Or when good actors get lousy material. I watched two episodes, was unimpressed, and about to give up when raislak highly recommended the Ron Livingston episode. I found it On Demand and decided to give the series one last chance. I ended up fast-forwarding through half of it. I can only assume Stephen King came up with this idea after seeing Serenity. Life on Mars - My Flist, you did not mislead me on this. I liked it a lot, though no deep thoughts at this point. Dead Like Me - I’ll reiterate, very Wondersfallish (same guy behind them both so no surprise), but the characters are very different so any similarities aren’t really bugging me. Thus far, Roxy is my favorite character. She’s sarcastic, somewhat cynical, and a little bit bitter. Maybe I like her because she reminds me a lot of…me. ;) Mason is cute and has the accent going for him, but my TV boyfriends have to be smart and sexy and how he died killed the smart part. ;p Amazing Screw on Head: I’m not a huge animated series fan but I heard David Hyde Pierce and Paul Giammati were voicing two of the characters so I had to check this one out. OMG, it’s so good! Snappy, intelligent dialogue, cool animation, and did I mention the leads? Definitely check this one out – Sci-Fi, Thursday, 10:30est. So my most recent ‘How Much Did You Spend On This’ purchase (TM my mother) is the audio recording of the BBC adaptation of Brideshead Revisited. When I fangirl, about the only thing that will stop me from buying are the dreaded words “Region 2”. Luckily, CDs are universal so after I discovered that one of Jamie’s radio performances was actually available for listening (the BBC sucks at archiving) I handed over my money to the folks at amazon.com.uk. ( Cut for squeeing and discussion - spoilers if you are not familiar with the book. )Though I haven’t commented much I wanted all you WriterCon attendees to know I’ve been reading all your posts and enjoying your recaps. And pictures! It’s nice to put faces with names of people I have not yet met. Battlestar Galactica 2007 calendar! From the cover it looks as if the images are taken from the mini and season 1, but calendar! :-) Galacticanews provided a link to a transcript provided by tunfaire at captainapollo of Jamie's interview in the lastest official BSG magazine. There be SPOILERS. However, if you skip the second question and answer -"How do you think that year affected Lee as a character?" - and the third question and answer - "How do you think his relationship with his father has been affected?" - there is nothing spoilery and Jamie provides some very interesting insights into his character and the show. My favorite revelation may be he is wearing Grace/Sharon's pregnancy tummy to bulk him up! :) ETA: ( The Stargates! I almost forgot. That should tell you something. ;) )Tags: brideshead_revisited, bsg s3, jamie_bamber, stargate, tv_musings Current Mood: hot

Low: Learned I need to prioritize the hard way (damn you LJ!) and got to the post office next door five minutes after it closed. High: Drove to the one downtown and there was no line. Low: Realized after I mailed one of the packages I forgot to include something. D'Oh! High: At least postage is cheap for mailing a single disc. Low: Went to five different stores and, apparently, my lovely city is only carrying the TV Guide's with 'Lost' and 'Star Trek' on the cover. High: However, I have the August issue of Out magazine. Wheeeeeeee!!! And there is an additional picture in it! More Wheeeeeeee!!! Low: Spent money I shouldn't have. High: Will no longer have to borrow Mom's suitcase because mine is too big and bulky to take on the plane. Low: Apparently the braintrust at Sci-Fi aired a new Season 3 trailer during the 2am showing of BSG. WTF? Because it would have made no sense to air it during the NEW 'Stargates'. :p High: Maureen Ryan of The Chicago Tribune did a nice write up on the upcoming season on BSG. There are spoilers (nothing new to me ;), but if you don't care about those evil things go here. And for the spoilerphobes who, like me, have been dying for some webisode info ( it's under the cut. )Tags: bsg s3, jamie_bamber Current Mood: bouncy

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here the past two days. I'm typing outside right now! Which makes me believe that when I have company next week that it will be OMG Kill Me Now Hot or raining or probably a combination of both. What to say about the Emmys? I'm thrilled that House and Scrubs got included, but how so you ignore the stars of those shows? As my mother so succinctly put it Hugh Laurie is House. And while I didn't hold out a lot of hope for BSG getting a nom I thought Mary may pull one out. Geena Davis over her? I don't think so. The Sci-Fi board is nuts. Please remind me to stay away from it. Happy Belated Birthday to scarlettfish ! I didn't forget! I just forgot to post. ;-) How sarmoti tracks this stuff down I don't know, but bless her. She's the queen of finding Bamber photos. See the travesty within this short, spoiler free interview. From the OMG what were they thinking department. Though, that picture can provide a lot of iconing possibilities. Just sayin'. I'm typing this out in rich text because I can now. It's cool not having to manually do all that html code (accept for links because I can't seem to figure out the dohickey to do that). OK, and I just realized the spell check ends up being rather wonky. I swear I had more to say. My life can't be this boring, can it? Tags: jamie_bamber Current Mood: relaxed

Well, technically, I was never away from you all. It's ridiculous how much time I and my partners in crime spent perusing LJ and the net. And let me add that we are all very disappointed with you all. No kerfuffles. No outrage over spoilers. No wank. It was too damn quite around here! Oh, have you seen the new SG-1 promo pics at Gateworld? Eeeeeeee!!! So pretty. (See icon) Anyway, had a wondeful time, wish you were there. Vancouver is a lovely city, but did we see a single film shoot? No. Seriously, where were they hiding these things? And no Bamber to be found. :( Hell, we couldn't even locate the elusive Building C. More on that later as well as details of the trip. Here's a teaser though: Not the best shot, but look familiar? We stood where Helo shot the rat! It took all of one hour of being back in Michigan before I had to flee my mothers house. I love her, but it doesn't take long for her to get on my last nerve. After a week away I was getting use to not being smothered. On the plus side, she recorded 'Hex' for me. I'm curious to see what all the hype was about. My mom watched it and, even though she never watched 'Buffy', found it to be a pale imitation. Right down to the inclusion of the lesbian friend. Color me surprised that my mother knew about Willow. She also got next weeks issue of TV Guide with the Sexiest Men in Television. OK, I don't have a scanner so please excuse the so-so quality of taking a pic with my camera, but if you want to see Jamie's photo, here it is: And a close up of the text because what Katee and Kerry have to say is very cute and endearing: OK, off to shower and unpack a bit and watch 'Rescue Me'. Oh, and find a 'Who' torrent. Hopefully I'll be semi-conscious for work tomorrow. Tags: jamie_bamber, vancouver Current Mood: chipper

First off, Birthdays! A belated Happy Birthday! to inlovewithnight. I now you had a great night with Bruce ;), I only wish I could whip up a little H/A drabble for you. But at the pace I write, I may have it in time for your next birthday. :) And today we were cursed/blessed with the arrival of brynnmck. Happy Birthday! I wish I could blame my slowness on not writing you a ficlet, but Lee and Kara? It's just wrong. ;p As far as a gift, just pick out something pretty for yourself when we are in Vancouver - not Jamie. ;) But I don't want you (or anyone really) to go totally Bamberless so here is a pretty pic I managed to successfully upload on my first attempt. :) I snagged it courtesy of sarmoti awhile back. And when I was perusing her LJ earlier I noticed she had more pretty! Check this out. Torrents! I found one for Celebrity Poker Showdown! Same torrent, but it can be found Here and Here. It's downloading very slowly for me right now. In entertainment news...I picked up at the TV Guide site that Kathryn McPhee is being approached for films by several Hollywood directors including Steven Spielberg and Joss Whedon. Er, Wonder Woman??? And in GREAT news, Jane Espenson is writing a BSG script! Wheeeee!!! Could we have a lighter ep in our future? :) Tags: jamie_bamber Current Mood: excited
