I'll Be In My Bunk

Um, yeah, watching some more of the DT dailies I finally saw the various takes of the balcony scene. From what I gather we saw a toned down version. Watching the first take uncut? Please refer to subect line. :O

In less stimulating news ;), I just saw Episode 3 of Lost also entitled 'Tabula Rasa'. Of course I *had* to mention that little fact. Honestly I wasn't wowed by this episode until about the last fifteen minutes. Only JJ could have me squirming in my seat one minute and following the commercial break have me going 'Awwwwwww'. Maybe some of it was too sappy, but I'm a sucker for sap.

I'm trying to decide if it's predictable or unpredictable that the characters aren't what the initially appear to be. Probably a mixture of both. And I think Locke and Charlie are my favorite characters thus far. Speaking of Charlie, I'd really like an icon of him that says 'bollocks'. Please don't think that's a request.....more of a hint. ;)

Don't panic you didn't miss anything. Well, maybe another few seconds of Terry grimacing, but that's it. Then they cut to a commercial and came back to show previews for next week which looks like day three of Survivor when they realize they need to start finding food.

Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetails!!!!!!
Sorry! As I mentioned to Jonesie above, I promise to post a detailed report this evening. I did mention a few tidbits I could recall off the top of my head. :)
Hee. I didn't mean to be evil...really! I just had time for a quick post. And I don't think I can do the take justice without being able to refer to the DVD. So, I promise, I'll post about it when I get home.

I think what makes the scene *realy* work is not only James' intensity but we are seeing the scene performed in one uninterupted take. In the final version, jumping between distance shots, shots from the waist up, and extreme close-ups it comes off as less visceral and less realistic. Probably for the best, because what I'm seeing would never have made it on braodcast television.

Though, what they are suppose to be doing is anatomically impossible. In one take Sarah actually says "I think you were fucking my back". And in every take James/Spike gets right to business meaning his pants would have had to have been undone before he even walked up behind her! :p

Heh. Now I know I have something to look forward to!

Is it me or is the dog kind of sinister? I can't believe I'm writing this about a yellow lab, but I think it's up to something.

I thought the episode was kind of oddly paced, and there definitely was a plethora of schmoop, but I'm still interested.

LOL! ::wipes tears from eyes::

I'm not sure if I felt he was sinister (though he could have been subjected to brainwashing by some evil doers in his time away - wasn't he too clean after surviving a crash and wandering the jungle?), but why did he stay away from the crash site for so long?

I agree, it was oddly paced and a bit schmoopy. Loved the song at the end, but did it belong there? I think the show is still finding it's footing and what kind of tone they wish to convey. Heck, I've been watching Las Vegas for a year and they stil haven't done that!
why did he stay away from the crash site for so long

Why indeed? Very un-lab-like behavior. And then again, he's been on an island where whatever sinister thing is going on involves animals (i.e. tropical polar bear). Conspiracy!

It may be that the more reflective tone of the episode and the slower pacing was a way of breaking the instensity up; the pilot was pretty non-stop, and it looks like the next episode might be pretty action-packed. Or it could have just been off.
I'm not sure who Locke is, I haven't gotten all the names down yet - is he the bald guy? I do think there is much more than meets the eye with him. I agree about Charlie - there's something kind of innocent and decent about him despite his addiction.

It's a bit more unpredictable than I thought it would be, so I'm happy with it so far. But I can't see it lasting more than a season, how can they drag it out longer than that?

As for the dailies - can't wait to see them ;)
Locke's the bald guy. Don't worry about not knowing names yet, I only know about four.

But I can't see it lasting more than a season, how can they drag it out longer than that?

Shush! They can drag it out until I start hating it. :p

As for the dailies - can't wait to see them ;)

OMG, you'll be here tomorrow!!!! *starts panicing*
Don't panic! We are so low maintenance - a bagel, a danish, a daily.... :)

Okay, I will shoosh, it will last as long as it is interesting and creepy ;)

So, you wanted a DVD burner for Christmas, right?
Hey, if your giving it away....a DVD burner that is ;), sure! And that in turn would solve my gift giving dilemas. ;-)
