Asta 2

Battlestar Galactica Preview

I cannot believe I sat through 90 minutes of Eureka for a minute of footage. Wait. Yes, I can.

This seems like a truncated version of what was shown at the MTR event.

Six to Baltar: “Sometimes you have to do things you hate so you can survive to fight another day.”

Anders to who knows: “Galactica is not coming back, just accept that.”

Tigh with gauze over his right eye, looking very scruffy: “The old man won’t just leave us to the Cylons.”

Shot of D’Ana

Lee to Adama: “Our first responsibility is to the survival of humanity. If we go back to New Caprica now humanity just stops. It’s over.”

Kara in a robe in jail. (This looks potentially dreamlike)

D’Ana to Six: “Is the love of that man really worth losing all of this.” Cut to Baltar and Six in his bedroom (?). Six: “If you’d ever experienced love, you wouldn’t have to ask”

Tyrol holding a baby with Cally near by

Sharon to Adama: “I don’t think we can survive if the man at the top can’t find a way to forgive himself.”

Dee to Lee (I’m guessing): “You’ve lost your edge…You’re a soldier who needs a war.”

Shots of firefights.

Leoben holding a little girl with blonde curly hair: “This is Kara, your mother.” And we see Kara in a house/apartment. (Again, I’m thinking dream/hallucination unless the Cylons have been building condos on new Caprica.)

Laura to someone: “Our children need to know that some people fought back.”

See people on Galactica (?) fighting as well as fighting on New Caprica

Dee to Lee: “What are you going to Do?" Lee: "What I should have done a long time ago.” Lee walks out of the CIC.

Fighting on New Caprica – Sharon is in Galactica uniform fighting with the Resistance

Cally running through the woods

D’Ana tossing furniture, obviously angry

Kara kicking Leoben (?) to the floor

Baltar begging someone with a gun under his chin to shoot him

Final shot - Adama telling Lee they are going back.

There was also a bunch of wording on the screen along with the images and dialogue, but I didn’t bother transcribing that.

Dead Like Me didn’t wow me, but I enjoyed it enough to keep watching. Eureka, I think I’m done with it. Forty-five minutes into the show I was *still* waiting for them to start telling the story. A half hour later I was getting the story, but didn’t find it original or even an interesting variation on an old story. Some of the acting is good, some, not so much. Bottom line, I just don’t care.

In slightly related news, I *have* to get a DVD recorder. My VCR recording of the promo sucks.

EEEEE!! I'm so excited!! I can't believe how long we still have to wait! I read your spoilers because I'm not sure what/where Eureka is (I think on SciFi?) and I'm going to have to wait for someone to upload the trailer so I can see it.

Oh Leoban, I <3 you. Okay, wait, no, I actually <3 Callum and EVERY SINGLE ROLE he plays.

Was Lee still in his fat suit??
Leo seems to play a significant role with Kara, at least early on.

Lee was, sadly, in the padding and latex. The good news is I hear that only lasts a few eps.

'Eureka' is on Sci-Fi and not worth your time. Wait for it to show up on You Tube or the Sci-Fi site. I'm guessing they'll post it soon.
Yeah the Eureka didn't impress me either. It screams USA creation waiting for a rgoup to adopt it.

But the angst for waiting for more BSG is back in full force.
Compared to BSG, the Stargates, and even some upcoming projects, 'Eureka' just seemed very uninspiring.
Yeah, before it aired I even heard it compared to the F word (Farscape). ummm Yeah...

I caught the rebroadcast of SG-1 last night, where have I seen the daughter before? 4400?
I liked Dead Like Me too and glad that I'm finally able to see the show. Eureka...yeah, I think I'll be skipping that in the future. I was basically flipping channels during the show and tuning in during the commercials!
By ten o'clock I was wishing I could flip over to 'Rescue Me' (until I saw 'Rescue Me' at 11, but that's another story...). 'Eureka' just seemed so pointless. Quirky town with experiments going on is not going to sustain a show. Plus, the characters weren't very engaging. Matt Frewer may have one of the worst Aussie (???) accents ever.
I had to skip over your preview 'cause I didn't want to be spoiled for when I get caught up on BSG, but anyway, in the opposite direction of this post, I just watched the other Ioan movie you gave me, Happy Now, and if it's at all possible, I think it surpasses Another Life in mockability.

I'll just give you these little tidbits to ponder: There are several literal references to Bonanza, Jonathyn Rhys-Meyers is a devil worshiper, and Ioan wears a bolero. Discuss.
and Ioan wears a bolero.

This may be worse than the manpris Jamie wore in the BSG special. of course, you've also made me want to watch this movie RIGHT NOW and I'm at work. :( I will have to get back to you on it later.

I'm not sure the BSG promo would spoil you, but it would leave you going "What the Hell?!". ;-)
Yeah, I figured I would be lost on the preview, but I intend to catch up in time for the new season.

And, yes, definately let me know what you think of Happy Now. I'm dying to know how much you laughed.
lee was still fat... *le sad sigh*

hope that won't last long!

either way, it looks fantastic! i.can't.wait.for.october!
Ooh, I wanna see! Is this available anywhere yet that you know of?
Leoben holding a little girl with blonde curly hair: “This is Kara, your mother.” And we see Kara in a house/apartment. (Again, I’m thinking dream/hallucination unless the Cylons have been building condos on new Caprica.)

I'm guessing the little blonde girl is the product of Kara's stolen ovaries.
The little girl looked a bit too old to be the product of Kara's ovaries, but that's without me sitting down to try and figure out the timeline of the series. ;) I think Leoben genuinely likes Kara, but I'm wondering if he's not above frakking with her mind to form some sort of bond with her. And is Anders looking for his wife?
Maybe she's got the soap opera kid's super-fast aging genes that the SG1 writers gave to Vala's daughter, Adria.
I would ask if it was the little blond girl that always shows up at the end of the intro, but I seem to be the only person in the universe who has seen her ;)
The Baltar/Six stuff looked really intriguing. I don't know what to make of the Kara and Leoben stuff (other than to be thrilled that we'll get to see more interaction between those two), but while normally I'd be freaking out a little about the possibility of a baby, I got a dreamlike sense from a lot of those scenes too, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it's handled--I can't believe I'm saying this, after "Black Market", but I at least want to trust that the show will make whatever happens work.
The way the little girl was presented in the clips, I'm more convinced then ever it's not Kara's child and Leoben is trying to manipulate her. I don't think Kara wants to be a mom, but I could see her being fiercely protective of a child whether it's hers or not and that being used against her.
There was an obvious insertion of "frickin" in lieu of you know what. And that was obvious because the girl makes a big deal of never having heard her mother use the F word before and I don't think "fricken" is all that shocking. ;)

I recall reading about 'Eureka" when Sci-Fi first optioned it and I was very interested in the idea. But there's just nothing about it that grabs me - the characters, the acting, the look, or the tone.
Lee: "What I should have done a long time ago.”

Come on, October!!

Thanks for the peek. :D I really do need to get cable TV.
