Asta 2

For The Sake of My Sanity

So, a friend here in town forwards a link to myself and some others this morning regarding Gen Con in Indianapolis, wondering how she did not know about this (she's pretty up on cons, especially if there are Farscape folks involved as is the case here), and that she would have been interested in going this past weekend. I click on the link to see who was supposedly there and the first person I see is...Jamie Bamber?!?!

Now, contrary to popular opinion I do not know his every move, but I find it very odd that I watch all the major BSG comms on LJ, have several equally enthusiastic fans on my Flist, skim the Sci-Fi board several times a week, and check out his semi-official site at least once a week. And I saw nothing about this. Plus, scanning this morning for Con reports I still see nothing. My question is, does anyone know if he was really there? With no news I'm thinking either he was scheduled long ago and cancelled or he was a last minute addition. If it's the latter, Dragon*Con Jamie, Dragon*Con.

Does this part of your post not qualify as an oxymoron?
Hee! So true. (Don't hit me, Asta!)

It would be strange if it were true and you managed to miss it, though.
Let's not forget if I didn't visit all those places and gather so much knowledge about the show I wouldn't be able to talk someone off the ledge several times a season. :P
But If I did know his every move I would have been in Indy instead of at dinner Saturday night. :p

Besides, most of my knowledge gathering has to do with finding out about the upcoming season and being able to threaten people with what happens through episode 12. It's all about power. :)
episode 12!?! is there no 13th episode?

see I never watch the 13th ep.

its bad luck.... ;-p
Huh indeed. It seems that onalark was taken a bit off guard seeing him there which leads me to believe this was last minute. It seems like an odd venue for him to make an appearance at. I wonder if he just popped in for a day or two to sign autographs or if he did any Q&A's? I have no idea how this Con is run.

I feel a little better if this wasn't widely known, but, damn, he was fairly close by.
Richard does quite a few cons so I'm not surprised he was there. One of the things I was bummed about at the last DC was the cancellation of the Apollo vs Apollo panel because I think that would have been very interesting.

I can't believe this con totally flew under everyone's radar! How weird.
Ok, I followed your link and they copied his bio form imdb???. Seriously, I want to know how he ended up there.
JB's Agent: Asta's not gonna be there.

JB: You sure?

JB's A: Yup.

JB: You're really sure?

JB's A: Yeah. Absolutely.

JB: OK, then! Book me in.
He's only scared I'll bring up 'Ghost Rig'. Someone needs to answer for that!
I just heard about this too (was doing random LJ surfing and someone briefly mentioned that they'd seen him there) and like you I was really baffled that apparently NO ONE knew about it. Must've been last-minute or else it never would've missed detection by the fangirl dradis. :)
So does this mean that I shouldn't give up all hope for Dragon*Con? I mean, if he's just going to show up for these things.....

The thing that really threw me is that the actors tend to spill spoilers at these things and it's the spoiler sites/whores who usually have the first info from the events and there's *nothing*. If he's beating the fangirl network, I'm scared. :(
Maybe he thought it was fun to beat the fangirl network or he had some spare time at the last minute when Ron said they didn't need Jamie this weekend.

Next month, I'm going to see if I can swag a copy of the season 3 press kit from Sci-Fi.
BSG is on a filming break right now. Considering several of the cast will be at DC I'm guessing filming resumes after the holiday weekend. DC has schedules up, but I'm assuming they'll squeeze guests in if anyone wants to show up at the last minute.
See this sounds awesome, but I got totally burned when he didn't go to Dragon*Con last year. I was all set to go then he cancelled and I was filled with woe. Now I'm terribly gunshy about cons. But it would be awesome if he appeared.
I have to admit, as much as I loved DC last year (and I was set to go before he was announced as a guest), when he cancelled it did taint the experience for me. Mostly because celebrities just kept walking by me and I kept thinking it could have been him.

My mother pointed out today that I;ve had a lot of great fan experiences and I shouldn't complain to which I responded, "I'm greedy!" :)
Richard and Jamie were both at GenCon, signing autographs and taking Q&A sessions. I made a recording of Jamie's Q&A and took audio notes after the fact on Richard's talk. I've been incapacitated since then, but I hope to get pictures and reports up sometime this weekend.

Jamie stretched in front of me! ;)

love, lore
First off, I hope you are feeling better. :)

Second, wheeeee!!! I'm still rather stunned that this appearance flew under the fangirl radar, but I'm thankful you were there and so thorough! It sounded as if he was only there for Saturday. Maybe he was on his way to somewhere else and popped in.

I saw Richard Hatch at Dragon*Con last year and he really surprised me. I kind of had my issues with the man before, but, damn, if he didn't make me like him. He's like the shows biggest fan now and he had some really interesting and thoughtful things to say. Excellent speaker. I can see how he ended up doing motivational speeches.
Have you ever gotten to see him? I saw him at Shore Leave last summer in Baltimore and he is gorgeous. And so friendly. I had a photo op with him as well. My account is here:

I hope you ended up seeing him somewhere and if you didn't I hope you can get there. :)
I would love to see her or James Callis. Aaron Douglas will be at Shore leave this summer and I got my ticket long ago.
