The Sci Fi Channel series "Battlestar Galactica" drew 2.2 million total viewers to its third-season premiere from 9-11 p.m. Friday. Although that figure was off from the Season 2 premiere, which garnered 3.1 million total viewers in July 2005, Sci Fi noted that the two-hour Season 3 opener was the No. 1 cable series Friday night. In the adults 18-49 demographic, the episode drew 1.4 million viewers.
Keep in mind that, for the first time, the show debuted during the regular Fall TV season as opposed to having little to no competition in the summer. So I think this is actually pretty good, especially if numbers hold steady. I'd also be curious to know how the 11pm showing did.
