Maybe I’ll watch the rest of the Star Wars trilogy that danceswithwords was kind enough to get me. I started ‘A New Hope’ last night. The original version before George decided to make ‘improvements’. I still adore that film and giving it will be thirty years old next year it holds up amazingly well. As much as I was feeling all nostalgic, it also occurred to me how corrupted I’ve become by The Internets and YOU all. I’m contemplating doing a post listing all the lines that now seem to have a double meaning. And I found myself wondering how much Luke/Han slash was out there. Sigh.
I watched the SG-1 episode ‘200’ Friday night. There is a lot more irony with that ep now.
And the SG-1 movies are a go! Michael Shanks confirms the cast is signed and they are being filmed early next year for a fall release. Though I’m not sure if they will just be direct to DVD or be broadcast on TV. Michael gives some suggestion as to what the movies will involve plus a bit of what is in store for Daniel in the latter half of the season, but nothing particularly spoilery.
Three new BSG trailers are making their rounds. I’m passing over the second L/K/D/A soap-a-rama. When L/Kers are gagging over it, it has to be bad. The other two promos showcase OMG! The entire cast and are pretty intriguing though I wonder if a bit too spoilery.
How did I not know until yesterday that there was a new Doctor Who ep tomorrow? Unfortunately, the promo I saw isn’t exactly exciting me so who knows when I’ll get to downloading. Maybe I’ll wait for all your reactions. ;)
Another Brit is trying his hand at US TV. This time it’s Damian Lewis. I really liked him in Band of Brothers as well as various British shows/movies I’ve seen him in and this premise sounds intriguing. It also appears he, like Hugh, Jamie, and others before him, will need to lose the accent.
I have White Noise on in the background. Aaron Douglas is in it?! And Katee is in White Noise 2. Weird.
One of the gals in my department decided to organize a pot luck for us “forgotten” employees. It took place on Thursday and OMG so much food! There are only ten of us, but everyone brought in a dish, some brought in two, plus chips, dips, etc. One person said she was bringing in a turkey. Yes, a turkey. Of course, we all assumed that meant she’d roast it the night before and bring it in and we could either heat it in the microwave or make sandwiches. Um, no, she roasted it at work. She has this portable roasting oven thing and brought that in and roasted the bird while we worked. Suffice it to say that by early afternoon she was the talk of the firm.
When I was picking up chips to bring in I discovered the BEST POTATO CHIPS EVER! Cape Cod Fresh Garden Herb Reduced Fat. Yes, and they are reduced fat! Which means you can eat twice as many. ;)
I did pretty well with the Christmas gift shopping this year, but it’s been a real struggle coming up with something big (as in surprising, not as in size or cost) for my mom. Usually by November I have something for her, but not this year. Well, Thursday night it dawned on me that I bought this new software to do the holiday cards and there were numerous other projects I could do with it. So, I checked out the calendar program which was straightforward and simple to use. My mother keeps two calendars. One for appointments and another for her TV viewing/DVRing. Yes, really. For the latter she generally uses one of those freebie calendars you get in the mail from the Humane Society or some other such organization asking for donations. So what I did is went on Amazon, copied the artwork from the DVD covers of some of her favorite classic movies or movies her fave actors appeared in, resized and pasted the images, and printed the pages out on some old photo stock paper I had lying around. I’m thinking she’ll love this. It cost me next to nothing (she *hates* me spending money on her), it’s something she can use, and I obviously put thought into it. Why didn’t I think of this sooner? Now I have ideas for next year. MUWAHAHAHAHHA!!!
Yesterday was cleaning day. I can see my kitchen countertop and living room floor again! And I have clean clothes! And I finally opened up my mail that has been piling up for over a week! So here is the great holiday card round-up. Many thanks to…mirandaflynn, nolivingman, romanticalgirl, widget285 (Cookie Lee! :), shmarollynn, thomasina75, joools, drc1,jonesiexxx, jidabug, cathyteach2 (the girls are adorable!), keswindhover, gobi_rex, reckleslinguist, and wickedgillie (The kids! Too cute!). OK, I probably missed someone. Please let me. I've enjoyed each and every one of the cards and some very kind words. I've also noticed a cat theme this year. ;)
And a Very Happy Birthday! to the one and only thegoyle. May your birthday not be overshadowed by another significant one. ;)
Now off to work. When I return I shall need to work on the final day of Christmas. Only one more pic spam to go. :(
