Bell to 'Alias' as part of deal at Touchstone
"Angel" and "X-Files" veteran Jeffrey Bell has been recruited to join ABC's "Alias" next season as part of his new two-year, seven-figure overall pact with Touchstone Television. Bell will sign on to "Alias" next season as a writer and co-executive producer. His Touchstone pact calls for him to be upped to executive producer on the drama series in the 2005-06 season. Bell is poised to segue to "Alias" after spending the past three seasons on the WB Network/20th Century Fox TV drama "Angel," the spinoff of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He started out on "Angel" as a supervising producer in 2001 and worked his way up to executive producer this season. Before "Angel," Bell spent nearly four years on Fox's "The X-Files," where he rose from staff writer to executive story editor in the show's final season.
Wow! I'm taking this as a good thing for next season and a (likely?) fifth. :) However, on the downside, with JJ's other in the works shows, sounds like he's stepping back from Alias. That's a bit disappointing. But, at least we are getting someone with success in genre TV coming in.
